BACKGROUND

The Conference aims to bring together stakeholders of the mineral resource industry and the authorities to discuss issues and find solutions on responsible mining and best practices to minimise negative impact on the environment. For the industry to be sustainable, it is imperative that it undertakes best practices and responsible mineral extraction to ensure that it continues to stay relevant for future generations.

OBJECTIVES

The Conference on Sustainable and Responsible Mineral Development is expected to:

• Address current issues and how best to improve the image of the mineral resource industry;
• Provide a better understanding of the concept of responsible mining and sustainable mineral resource development; 
• Highlight the development of environment friendly, new clean technologies and cost-effective minerals extraction and processing;
• Help the authorities appreciate the constraints of the mineral resource industry including rising costs and scarcity of mining leases;
• Encourage best practices in mineral extraction; and
• Promote Sustainable Development towards better value creation, value sharing and fair equitable value distribution.

PARTICIPATION FEES

Government Officials = Free of Charge (FOC)
Lecturers/ Students of Institutions of Higher Learning = Free of Charge (FOC)
Others = RM100 per person
