KUMPULAN Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB) has brought honour to Malaysia by bagging the award for the Best Practices in Sustainable Mineral Development (Non-Metallic Minerals Distribution) category at the recent 2nd Asean Mineral Awards (AMA) in Bangkok – representing the country in the said category and besting other mining firms from the Asean region.

KSSB Chief Finance Officer Mohamed Fariz Ghazali accepted the distinguished award at the Pullman King Power Hotel where the Asean Mineral Awards was held from Dec 11-13.

“We are very honoured and blessed to bring home this prestigious award to Malaysia, ” said Mohamed Fariz.

“This recognition and achievement has validated our implementattion of our processes and work procedures in our business operation whereby it is now accepted and recognised by the Asean mining industry as the best practice in the region.

“Our standard and commitment to excellence and integrity are the keys to our success, ” he added.

The finalist were selected in August earlier this year, with each having to present their entries before the AMA board of judges in conjunction with the 2019 Asean Senior Officials Meeting on Minerals (ASSOM) on Dec 11, also in Bangkok.

Fellow participant from Malaysia, Terengganu Silica Consortium, won first place in the Best Practices in Sustainable Mineral Development (Non-Metallic Materials Processing) category.

KSSB has been operating since 2008, and is responsible for managing the extraction, production and sales distribution of sand, rock materials and mineral resources, with the objective of promoting sustainable sand mining operation in Selangor which has the largest sand and rock production in Malaysia.

With KSSB’s plans and strategies now being validated and recognised in the mining operation and distribution industry, the company will now carve a new landscape in the eyes of the community and the Government.

“We stand firm by our company’s vision and mission statements as well as our core values: Mining to Sustain, ” said Mohamed Fariz.
