The Mineral Research Centre (PPM) is the research and development (R&D) arm of the Minerals and Geoscience Department (JMG).  

The objectives of JMG (PPM) are;

  • To encourage and diversify use of local mineral resources so as to contribute towards the development of the country’s industrial sector through R&D
  • To encourage the development of mineral resources in a sustainable manner through R&D

Among its functions are;

  • To carry out R&D on local minerals in order to produce starting and value added materials for industrial use
  • To develop suitable mineral processing and recycling technologies
  • To carry out collaborative  research with institutes of higher learning, other R&D agencies and industries in the field of minerals
  • To commercialise significant R&D results through technology transfer to interested parties
  • To assume advisory role and act as a reference centre in areas related to research in local minerals
  • To undertake R&D in mineral extraction, environmental impact and rehabilitation as well as providing support services to the department in overcoming related problems

In line with the government’s aspiration to develop the mineral based industry JMG(PPM) carried out projects related to clay based, silica-based, rock-based and advance material technology. To encourage the development of mineral resources in a sustainable manner, R&D on mineral processing, mining, quarrying and rehabilitation technology were carried out.

Skop Pelaksanaan Sistem Pengurusan Kualiti di Pusat Penyelidikan Mineral, Jabatan Mineral dan Geosains Malaysia (PPM-JMG) adalah berdasarkan keperluan standard MS ISO 9001: 2015 bagi:

  1. Perkhidmatan Ujian Batu Dimensi (UBD) di Cawangan Teknologi Berasaskan Batuan (CTBB)
  2. Perkhidmatan Ujian Pemprosesan Mineral (UPM) di Cawangan Teknologi Pemprosesan Mineral (CTPM) (Mineral: Bijih Timah, Bijih Besi, Bijih Emas dan Pasir Silika)

PERKHIDMATAN UJIAN BATU DIMENSI (UBD) DI CAWANGAN TEKNOLOGI BERASASKAN BATUAN (CTBB)

Perkhidmatan UBD kepada pelanggan dalaman dan luaran yang diberikan merangkumi ujian-ujian pencirian fizikal seperti berikut:

  • Ujian Penyerapan Air (Water Absorption)
  • Ujian Graviti Tentu (Specific Gravity)
  • Ujian Kekuatan Mampatan (Compressive Strength)
  • Ujian Kepecahan Modulus (Modulus of Rupture)
  • Ujian Kekuatan Lenturan (Flexural Strength)
  • Ujian Ketahanan Lelasan (Abrasive Resistance)
  • Ujian Koefisien Pengembangan Terma (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion)
  • Ujian Ketahanan Lelasan Menggunakan Taber Abraser (Abrasive Resistance using Taber Abraser)

SYARAT-SYARAT PERMOHONAN:

  1. Sampel yang dihantar untuk ujian hendaklah mengikut spesifikasi saiz dan bilangan spesimen seperti di dalam Jadual 1 - Spesifikasi sampel untuk ujian batu dimensi (sila rujuk brosur di bawah).
  2. Bayaran hendaklah dibuat terlebih dahulu sama ada dalam bentuk Tunai, Bank Draf atau Kiriman Wang atas nama Pengarah, Pusat Penyelidikan Mineral. (chek persendirian tidak diterima).

PERKHIDMATAN UJIAN PEMPROSESAN MINERAL (UPM) (BIJIH TIMAH, BIJIH BESI, BIJIH EMAS DAN PASIR SILIKA) DI CAWANGAN TEKNOLOGI PEMPROSESAN MINERAL (CTPM), PUSAT PENYELIDIKAN MINERAL

Perkhidmatan UPM (Bijih Timah, Bijih Besi, Bijih Emas dan Pasir Silika) kepada pelanggan dalaman dan luaran yang diberikan merangkumi ujian-ujian pemprosesan seperti berikut:

  • Ujian Taburan Saiz Partikel
  • Ujian Penentuan Komposisi Kimia Sampel Dengan Menggunakan Alat Spektrometer Pendaflor Sinar-X (XRF)
  • Analisis Kandungan Mineral
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Stanum (Sn) Dalam Bijih
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Ferum (Fe) Dalam Bijih
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Emas (Au) dalam Bijih
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Sulfur (S) Dalam Bijih
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Organik
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Silikon Dioksida (SiO2) Dalam Pasir Silika
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Ferum (Fe) Menggunakan Alat UV-VIS Spektrofotometer
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Titanium (Ti) Menggunakan Alat UV-VIS Spektrofotometer Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Aluminium (Al) Menggunakan Alat Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (AAS)
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Kalsium (Ca) dan Magnesium (Mg)
  • Ujian Pengisaran
  • Ujian Pengasingan Graviti Menggunakan Alat Jig dan Meja Ayun
  • Ujian Pengasingan Bermagnet Menggunakan Alat Pemisah Bermagnet Dwi Cakera (DDMS) dan Alat Pengasingan Bermagnet Berkeamatan Tinggi Cara Basah (WHIMS)
  • Ujian Pengapungan Buih
  • Ujian Pengasingan Bervoltan Tinggi
  • Ujian Penggosok Geseran (Attrition Scrubbing)
  • Ujian Penentuan Fasa Mineral Menggunakan Alat Pembelauan Sinar-X (XRD)
  • Ujian Penentuan Kandungan Karbon (C) dan Sulfur (S)

SYARAT-SYARAT PERMOHONAN:

  1. BERKUATKUASA 1 Januari 2022, bayaran deposit pada kadar 30%-50% bergantung kepada Sebutharga Anggaran Kos yang dikeluarkan perlu dijelaskan dalam tempoh 14 hari dari tarikh Surat Setuju Terima ditandatangani.
  2. Sebutharga Anggaran Kos bersama-sama dengan Surat Setuju Terima Perkhidmatan akan dikeluarkan berdasarkan permohonan pelanggan. Sebutharga Kos Sebenar adalah bergantung kepada bilangan ujian yang telah dijalankan.
  3. Semua ujian hanya akan dijalankan setelah bayaran deposit diterima.
  4. Senarai Ujian Pemprosesan Mineral dan harga setiap ujian adalah seperti di Jadual 2 - (sila rujuk brosur di bawah).
  5. Laporan perkhidmatan/ ujian hanya akan diserahkan kepada pelanggan setelah PPM menerima pembayaran penuh secara Tunai, Bank Draf atau Kiriman Wang atas nama Pengarah, Pusat Penyelidikan Mineral.

We have made significant achievements and we shall continue to improve along the way. Our research area includes rock based technology, silica based technology, clay based technology, advanced material technology, mineral processing technology, mining and quarrying technology and mine and quarry rehabilitation technology.
