Ordinary Kitchen Wares

Thermal shock behaviour of kitchen wares plays a decisive role in household use. Rapid heating and cooling result in thermal stresses that can lead to damage or fracturing of the wares. In severe cases it can cause catastrophic shattering of the wares.


The development of anti-thermal shock kitchen wares will resist the damaging or fracturing or shattering effects when the wares were subjected to sudden transient temperature change. These wares were developed using mainly local ceramic raw materials at much lower firing temperatures that show excellent resistance to thermal shock. The wares also possessed high strength, low porosity, white bodies and light weight. A high thermal shock resistant wares will be safe to use directly over a glass flame or an electric burner as well as in the oven and even in the microwave. The higher strength and light weight will enable safe usage in the dishwasher and, if durable, can be cleaned with metal pads or utensils without scratching or scrapping.
