|Cititel Hotel, Penang, Malaysia|
This is a jointly organised programme to promote networking of academicians and professionals in sharing of common knowledge, facilitating exchange of ideas and to keep abreast with the latest development under the Mineral, Geological and Geo-resources fields. Such as Engineering Geology, Geothermal, Economic Minerals, Mining, Mineral Processing, Recycling, Remote Sensing, Geophysics etc. within the spirit of ASEAN for improved mineral resource development and management.
In line with the conference theme “Toward Sustainable Development and Management of Mineral Resources” continuous focus on good practice in managing and optimizing the exploitation of these un-renewal Mineral / Geo-resources must become a culture and standard practice. Investment in human capital in addition to new technology, coupled with good policies, including environmentally awareness society are essential key factors in ensuring sustainable development in Geo-Resources/ Mineral industry within complex society in years to come.
AUN/SEED-Net: RC GeoE 2015
Initiated in 1997, the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Southeast-Asia Engineering Education Development Network (SEED-Net), combined as AUN/SEED-Net, is a network established since 2001 that is involved in various academic activities. The Network aims to have Southeast Asia- Japan collaboration in sustainable development via innovative and highly skilled human resources in the engineering field. The Network which is based in Bangkok consists of 24 leading institutions (selected by the Ministries in charge of higher education of respective countries) from 10 ASEAN countries with the support from 14 leading Japanese Supporting Universities. The program is mainly supported by the Japanese Government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and partially supported by the ASEAN Foundation. USM has been given an honour to organise the 8th Geological and Geo- Resources Engineering academic conference (8th RC-GeoE 2015) as a platform for academicians, researchers, young faculty members and doctoral students as well as industrial players to share their experiences and new knowledge in the respective fields.
Mineral Research Centre: SIMPOMIN 2015
Mineral Symposium 2015 (SIMPOMIN 2015) is an organized forum for researchers and scientists to present their recent findings to the mineral industry on mineral R&D. This symposium will be the seventh of such successful forum organized by the Mineral Research Centre (MRC), Minerals and Geoscience Department (JMG), the first being SIMPOMIN 2002 followed by SIMPOMIN 2004, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013. In this symposium, a number of papers will be presented by researchers from JMG pertaining to their research findings on mineral R&D. In addition, researchers from various institutions and private sectors will also be presenting their research findings. SIMPOMIN 2015 will offer an excellent platform for participants to present and exchange views, knowledge and experiences on innovations and technologies related to the mineral industries. Integrated sessions covering broad research topics will be the feature of the symposium.
