ROLES/OBJECTIVE

To overcome the problem of incomplete and lack of information on mineral resources needed by the private and public sectors.

Metallic Minerals

To identify metallic minerals’ resources like base and of high value metals and to provide a comprehensive and up to date mineral information for the promotion and development of that particular mineral industry.

Industrial Minerals

To identify industrial minerals’ resources like kaolin, ball clay, dimension stone and silica sand and to provide a comprehensive and up to date mineral information for the promotion and development of that particular mineral industry.

Energy Mineral

To identify energy minerals’ resources like coal and radioactive minerals to provide a comprehensive and up to date mineral information for the promotion and development of that particular mineral industry.

FUNCTIONS

Metallic Minerals

  • To carry out systematic exploration survey for identifying and determining potential areas of metallic minerals like base and of high value metals.
  • To promote investment in metallic minerals industry.
  • To develop and maintain the metallic minerals’ data base.

Industrial Minerals

  • To carry out systematic investigation for identifying industrial minerals’ resources like kaolin, ball clay, dimension stone and silica sand.
  • To promote investment in industrial minerals industry.
  • To develop and maintain the industrial minerals’ data base.

Energy Mineral

  • To carry out investigation for collecting information and delineating potential areas of energy minerals like coal, radioactive minerals and geothermal sources.
  • To promote investment in energy minerals industry.
  • To develop and maintain the energy minerals’ data base.
