Objective

To provide comprehensive information on basic geology for the planning of land use development, mineral industry and other activities of the Department.

Functions
  • To carry out systematic geological mapping including on hard rock and surface deposits.
  • To collect and provide information on geology and mineral resources of an area and to produce it in the form of reports and maps.To develop and maintain geological mapping data base.
The geological Mapping Activity will give priority to do mapping on an appropriate scale based on identified areas:
  • For land development based on the client’s request,
  • Having mineral potential that warrants a follow up investigation,
  • For other geoscience investigations i.e. hydrogeology, engineering geology and environmental geology.
