The Mineral Symposium 2009 (SIMPOMIN 2009) is the fourth of such symposium organized by Mineral Research Centre since 2002. The symposium is organized to offer a common platform that provides a venue for discussion and exchange of information on the latest development and issues related to mineral-based products and environmental issues related to the minerals industry in the country. Rapid population growth will witness the continued demand for mineral-based material. Therefore, there is a great challenge for researchers, scientists and engineers to sustainably manage ore resources and at the same time to minimize environmental damages.
